Winter Vegetable Seeds in Pakistan

Winter is the best season to start a kitchen garden in Pakistan — cool nights, far fewer pests, and crops that practically grow themselves. The one thing that really matters is sowing on time. Once the September heat breaks, the soil cools enough for spinach, coriander, peas, carrot and the whole cabbage family to take off, and a sowing finished before mid-November will keep your kitchen in fresh vegetables right through to spring. At Seed Beej we hand-pick winter (rabi) varieties proven in Pakistan's cool season — hybrid F1 for heavy, uniform yields, and desi open-pollinated seed you can save and grow again next year.

Growing tips from our nursery

  • Sow leafy greens (spinach, coriander, methi) and root crops (radish, carrot) directly where they'll grow — start cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli in trays and transplant the seedlings.
  • Winter germination is slower than summer. Keep the bed moist and warm, and don't give up on carrot or coriander before two full weeks.
  • In December–January, protect young seedlings from heavy Punjab fog and frost with a light cloth cover at night.
  • The more winter sun your patch gets, the sweeter your peas, carrots and beetroot will be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which vegetables grow best in winter in Pakistan?

Spinach, coriander, peas, carrot, radish, beetroot, turnip and the cabbage family (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli) all thrive in the cool season. For a first winter garden, radish, spinach and coriander are the quickest and most forgiving.

When should winter vegetable seeds be sown in Pakistan?

Most winter (rabi) seeds go in from September to November, once the worst heat has passed. Cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli are best started a little earlier (August–October) in trays and then transplanted as seedlings.

Can winter vegetables be grown in pots and grow bags?

Yes. Spinach, coriander, lettuce and radish do well in 8–10 inch pots, while carrot and beetroot need a deeper pot or grow bag so the roots can form properly. Just make sure there are good drainage holes.

How long do winter vegetable seeds take to germinate?

In cool weather most winter seeds sprout in 6–15 days — a few days slower than summer. Carrot and coriander are the slowest, so keep the soil moist and be patient for up to two weeks.

Do you deliver winter vegetable seeds all over Pakistan?

Yes. We pack and ship fresh winter vegetable seeds across Pakistan — Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and beyond — with cash on delivery available.
